How did you use media technologies in construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

I have used a lot of different types of technology in my research, Planning and evaluation. Firstly in my research I mainly used the internet to research different camera angles and the types of genres.
Website such as www.mediaknowall.com/camangles.html has lots of information on camera angles. Also websites like http://www.filmsite.org/genres.html have detailed descriptions of each film genres and really helped me decide what type of genre would be most affective for my trailer. This also helped me find which genre would have a niche market.

In the filming of our trailer we used a Panasonic HDC-SD5 HD camera, although we do not have HD DVD discs so the camera is not used to its full potential but this camera is still a very high quality camera. This will still help me product high quality footage.

Whilst editing we used an Apple Mac this makes editing really easy, and there are more affects that are available that are standard to Mac than there is to Windows Movie maker. Apple Imovie that sound affect that are free to use now again this make the research and planning much easier when you know what sound affects are available to use. Below is a picture of what Imovie looks like.

We used websites such as Facebook, YouTube and Blog Spot you show our research. Facebook is a really good source and helps to get me positive feedback off family and friends although this can be a problem because some family and friends don’t always give you honest feedback. Now with websites such as YouTube this is much different as my product is shown to a world wide bases so more people are able to comment on it and because they don’t know you then will give honest feedback. The website BlogSpot is the website that we used to show a current stream of information. We wanted to use this website because we felt that it would show our research in the most affective method.

Prism Video Converter is a program that allows me to convert Apple Mac MP4 files into “.avi” which I can then use at home on my home laptop this enables me to deconstruct my film trailer and see how it develops and challenges conventions of a real media product. Below is a picture of windows movie maker.

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

I have done a powerpoint to show my evaluation below is a link to a website with my powerpoint on it.

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?

When I was planning my ancillary tasks I wanted to keep synergy between my main task and ancillary tasks. This would help my audience make a clear and easy link between my tasks. Now I wanted my film poster to appeal to a younger audience, to do this I used bright colours and witty headlines. I believe that this would attract a younger audience. Also I have used the same method with my magazine cover I have tried to make it as appealing and attractive to a younger audience as possible. I have done this mainly in my photography skills by having a comical picture of my character.

I have kept a comical theme in both my ancillary tasks. For example in my film poster I have mix two genres together. It is mainly black and white this is to show its detective/noir themed film but I have used different technologies that have allowed me to keep some of the colours in my photo. I chosen to keep the yellow “kick me” posit note to show that this is also a detective spoof. Also the acid green text also helps to show that the poster is a comedy. With my magazine front cover I have decided to have a slightly different outlook on the task. I wanted my magazine to be like the magazine “Empire” this is an independent magazine that gives reviews on films. I had noticed that the magazine title flowed really well I wanted my magazine title to do the same. I found that the “Empire” Tile is a three syllable word and this is what makes the title flow well. The title for my magazine is “Continue” this is also a three syllable word and also really flows well. Below is a picture of my film poster (fig1) and also is a picture of my magazine cover(fig2)

I have used different pictures for my ancillary tasks because I wanted to show my photography skills although I have used the same person in both my task to show synergy. For my magazine I wanted an image that showed the serious and comical aspects of detective goose. Although the image that I had taken may not get the effect that I wanted. This is because Detective Goose looks far too serious and menacing. I feel that if Detective Goose was pulling a less serious face I could get the comedy that I wanted.

In conclusion my main task and both ancillary tasks work together and show clear synergy between us and they also have some of the same aspects so my audience will see that there is a link.
